Frequently Asked Questions

Who can take part in The Rowcroft Sleep Walk? +

All ladies over eight-years-old can take part in The Rowcroft Sleep Walk, no matter what your fitness level. The event is for ladies-only but men are more than welcome to volunteer. Find out more about volunteering by clicking here

Where will we be walking? +

Whether you choose the five or ten-mile route, you’ll begin your walk at the Riviera International Conference Centre. All of our walkers will stroll along the beautiful Torquay sea front, around the marina and head out towards Preston. Those tackling five miles will turn around at Hollicombe Park, where the ever-popular Lights of Love will be located, while ten-milers continue on to Preston Green, Paignton and through to Torbay Leisure Centre, before making tracks back to the RICC.

What time will we set off? +

You’ll start your walk at either 7.00, 7.30 or 8pm – just in time to catch the beautiful sunset over the Bay! Your start time will be allocated to you closer to the event. You’ll need to arrive at the RICC around 15 minutes before that time.

How long will it take me to complete the route? +

Most people walk at around three miles per hour, which means it should take two hours to complete the five-mile route and around four hours for the 10-mile route.

Will there be somewhere to park? +

Parking will be available at the RICC car park; we’ll send you a permit nearer the time.

What should I wear? +

The theme of ‘Girls Night Out’ can mean whatever you want it to! Be as creative as you like; customise your Sleep Walk t-shirt, sling on some sparkles, glam-up with glitter or jog along in your joggers! Just make sure you wear shoes that are comfortable enough to complete the course and that you have your walker number clearly visible.

What facilities will be available on the route? +

There’ll be toilet and refreshment stops with plenty of other fun and games along the route. Have a look at our website and your route map for more details.

Do you have any tips on how to fundraise? +

Your entry fee only covers the cost of running the event, so your sponsorship money is what we rely on to be able to deliver patient care to those who really need it. We also know that fundraising isn’t always easy and that we aren’t the only charity asking you for your hard-earned cash, so we’ve put together lots of advice on how to raise as much sponsorship as you can on our ‘Fundraising Pack’, which you can download from the website or call us and we’ll send one in the post. Alternatively, you can also now make a one-off donation if asking for sponsorship really isn’t your thing, just take a look at our website for more details.

Where can I collect my Sleep Walk t-shirt from? +

You can pick up yours from any of our Rowcroft shops between Monday 1 April (TBC) and Wednesday 26 June. Find your nearest Rowcroft shop by clicking here.

I’d like to get involved but am not sure I could complete the route – how else can I help? +

We are currently looking for volunteers to help out on the night and would love you to join us. Find out more and sign up to help today by visiting the volunteers page on this website.
