Sign up today for Rowcroft’s most scrumptious fundraising campaign
16 March 2015
Registration is now open for Rowcroft’s Big Bake campaign.
Dubbed Rowcroft’s most scrumptious fundraising campaign, The Big Bake invites people to host their own tea party, bake sale or bake off between Saturday 18 and Sunday 26 April and donate the funds raised to the hospice.
The campaign is being backed by former BBC Great British Bake Off contestant, Glenn Cosby, as well as cafes and patisseries across South Devon, who have joined forces to create a fundraising recipe book.
The Little Book of Big Bakes is packed with cake, dessert and teatime recipes from some of South Devon’s most popular foodie destinations, as well as Big Bake ambassador Glenn Cosby, and staff, volunteers and Friends of Rowcroft.
Glenn said: “It’s a really good idea to start with a recipe because things like pastries and cakes can go wrong. If you master the basics by following someone else’s recipe you can then make it your own by tweaking or adding your favourite flavours.
“Buy this book and you’ll have great recipes to try out, and be giving to a great cause at the same time – it will make you a baking hero!”
Recipes have been donated by Shaldon’s Café Ode, Seeds 2 Bakery in Totnes, Alf Resco’s in Dartmouth, Bovey Castle, Daisy Cakes in Torquay and Cockington Chocolate Company – among others.
The book will be sold in Rowcroft’s shops and participating cafes for a minimum donation of £5 during the Big Bake campaign.
Rowcroft’s Community Fundraising Manager, Heather Norman-Soderlind, added: “We are encouraging all those who enjoy getting together over tea and cake to organise their own Big Bake event between 18 and 26 April, and to purchase our deliciously Little Book of Big Bakes to inspire their baking!
“We are hoping this year’s Big Bake campaign will raise £19,000 to help support the vital services we provide for more than 2200 people across South Devon, as well as thousands more of their family and friends.”
Louise Grant, Rowcroft’s Deputy Inpatient Unit Manager, whose Rocky Road recipe is included in the book, added: “What better way is there to raise funds and support a good cause than by enjoying tea and cake with friends, family and colleagues?”
