Seven days until the wildest walk in the west!

04 July 2015

With just over one week to go until the Sleep Walk 2015, we thought we’d give you a checklist of things to remember in preparation for the wildest walk in the West!

Pledge your sponsorship!
We’d like to ask you to pledge your sponsorship total (so far) online. This will enable us to estimate how much has been raised in aid of Rowcroft Hospice. The total will be announced on the night at Torbay Leisure Centre after you’ve completed the walk!
(Don’t forget, you can pay in sponsorship money by cheque on the night).

Remember your parking permit!
Due to limited parking on-site, we’d like to encourage you to car share where possible and please remember to park in your designated zone. If you’re parking in Splashdown Quaywest please don’t forget your parking permit – it’s really important you have this clearly on display.

Nominate a mate!
As y’all know, my flock of baaa-rilliant awards are back again and we’re looking to give away a number of different ones. Have you or someone you know done something extraordinary for this year’s Sleep Walk? Perhaps overcome an injury, or travelled across the world to take part or volunteer? Let us know by emailing info@rowcroftsleepwalk.org.uk with the subject 'My Going the Extra Mile Nomination'!

Other bits ‘n’ bobs!
Please ensure you arrive at your designated arrival time. With over 2200 of you fabulous fillies walking we want to make sure you all get off to a safe start.

Remember to bring safety pins with you to secure your number onto your t-shirt and if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please note these down on the back of your walker number.

If you haven’t picked up your t-shirt yet, don’t worry, they will be available to collect from Torbay Leisure Centre upon arrival, just head to the Help Desk.

Fancy getting your face painted or a temporary tattoo? What about a flashing Sleep Walk bottle or some glow in the dark ears? We’ll have plenty of boot stompin’ merchandise for sale on the night, so remember to bring some money along in case you see something you like.

And lastly!
Have a great time on Saturday night, at the moment the weather is looking like it’s going to be a scorcher, so please remember to wear sun cream and bring a cowgirl hat with you, particularly if you have an early start time and the sun’s still out. There will be regular refreshment points along the route but please bring a drink with you as well.

We have over 200 volunteers helping us on the night and without these people the event simply would not go ahead, so please give them a smile and a wave as you’re walking past! Rowcroft Hospice thanks you again for taking on this challenge and for raising sponsorship.

If you have any last minute questions, please email the Sleep Walk team or call them on 01803 217641. If you have any questions on Saturday, please private message Rowcroft Hospice or Barbara The Sheep on Facebook and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

See y’all soon,

Babs x
