Rowcroft launches arresting new fundraiser
20 February 2017
Rowcroft Hospice is looking for local business people to take part in an arresting new fundraising initiative, Jail or Bail.
Taking place on Friday 31 March, Jail or Bail, will see local business men and and women arrested for a series of spurious crimes, banished to jail cells at Rowcroft Hospice, and unable to leave until they’ve raised the terms of their bail conditions; a £1000 donation to the hospice.
Each of those arrested will be allowed to keep their phones on them and will have until 5pm to call friends, family and colleagues in order to raise their bail money. They will also be able to use their social media channels.
Rowcroft’s Community Fundraising Manager, Hayley Norrish, explained: “Are you fed up with your colleague never doing the tea round? Or always turning up 15 minutes late? Or maybe there’s some other ‘crime’ you can think of that they must be charged with!
“Now’s your chance to get your own back by having them arrested and sent to Rowcroft’s ‘jail,’ all in the name of helping to support your local hospice!”
Rowcroft Trustee, Richard Ward, will be acting as Rowcroft’s Jail or Bail judge and is looking forward to taking part in the novel fundraising initiative.
He said: “When each of those arrested are brought into Rowcroft’s jail their mug shots will be taken and they will stand trial for their ‘crimes’. I shall undoubtedly find them guilty – and then it will be up to them to see if they can raise their bail money!”
Rowcroft’s staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer some incentives to reach specific fundraising milestones; and remind them what a huge difference their efforts are making to local people living with life-limiting illnesses to share precious time with family and friends.
Richard added: “Jail or Bail is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference to your local hospice while being a great team building exercise - you could even consider entering your whole team or department into the venture – to see who can raise their bail money the fastest!”
Jail or Bail is part of a series of continuing efforts the hospice is making to regain financial stability following a drastic funding shortfall in 2016.
