Rowcroft Hospice to take part in national Hospice Care Week 2015
29 September 2015
Rowcroft is joining forces with more than 100 hospices across the UK to raise awareness of the many ways that hospices connect with local people and communities.
The nationwide activity is taking place during Hospice Care Week, running from 5 – 9 October 2015.
Now in its fifth year, Hospice Care Week is an annual event organised by national body Hospice UK to raise awareness about the work of the hospice sector within the UK, and the difference it makes to the end of life.
Jo Pope, Head of Community Services at Rowcroft Hospice, says: “We are delighted to have an opportunity to celebrate the way we connect with South Devon, whether it’s enabling patients to share a cup of tea with their loved ones, putting on a big fundraising event to meet our amazing supporters, or providing training for other health care professionals in South Devon.”
The hospice currently supports more than 2200 people living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon every year, as well as thousands more of their family and friends.
Jo added: “Rowcroft exists for the local community, enabling people in South Devon living with life-limiting illnesses to make the most of each and every day.
“The hospice also couldn’t exist without the people of South Devon, as more than 70% of our funding comes from the local community.”
Rowcroft is planning a host of social media activity to raise awareness of its connection with South Devon during Hospice Care Week.
Marketing Manager, Rachel Bell, explains: “We are planning a number of posts for our Facebook and Twitter channels during Hospice Care Week, sharing a bit of insight into the many ways we are proud to connect with people across South Devon.
“We’re also hoping to share some of the ways we are able to connect patients with their families, friends and other loved ones to ensure they make the most of every day they have together.”
