Rowcroft Hospice launches extreme challenges programme

12 November 2015

In a bid to encourage people to take part in one of the hospice’s extreme challenges, Rowcroft are hosting an information evening on 30 November to launch their action packed programme for 2016/17.

Taking place on the hospice grounds in Torquay, the staff will reveal more about the challenges, and offer tips on how to fundraise. As a special thank you to anyone that attends, and decides to sign up to an overseas challenge on the night, Rowcroft will be offering a 5% discount on fundraising targets.

Rowcroft Ambassador, Paul Barton, recently kayaked over 100km down the Zambezi River in Namibia to raise funds for the hospice, and will be there to encourage other people to sign up to a challenge.

Paul said: “Taking on an extreme challenge for Rowcroft was an incredible opportunity to support such a worthy cause, at the same time as having a truly once in a lifetime experience. The support from Rowcroft’s fundraising team has been amazing and I’m delighted to be encouraging other people to sign up to their latest challenges for 2016.”

The hospice has an array of extreme challenges on offer for 2016 and 2017, including a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a Ben Nevis hike, a bike ride from London to Paris and a number of 15,000ft tandem skydives throughout the year.

Hayley Norrish, Community Fundraising Manager for Rowcroft Hospice, explained: “Our catalogue of extreme challenges gives fundraisers the chance to push themselves to their physical and mental limits, while helping Rowcroft make every day the best possible day for adults living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon.”

The information evening will take place at Rainbow House, at the hospice, on Monday 30 November at 6.00pm, and will be a chance for anyone interested in taking on a challenge to speak to Paul.

Hayley added: “We are delighted that Paul will be joining staff and supporters of Rowcroft Hospice at Rainbow House on 30 November. We encourage all those interested in undertaking an incredible challenge for Rowcroft in 2016 to join us for the evening.’’
