Rowcroft announces Teignmouth Colour Rush

18 February 2016

Teignbridge residents are being invited to go colour crazy by taking part in Rowcroft's new Colour Rush event on Teignmouth beach.

The new Teignmouth event is the first of two 5k Colour Rush events that will take place in 2016 in aid of the hospice.

The well-established Colour Rush in Paignton has been a sell out in previous years and the hospice hopes the second event in Teignmouth will enable even more people to take part in this fun and very colourful event.

The 5k paint run will take place in Teignmouth on Saturday 7 May in addition to an event in Paignton on Saturday 17 September.

Events Manager for Rowcroft, Daniel Robson, explained: “We are delighted to announce that the shores of Teignmouth will soon be turning rainbow-coloured as we take the Colour Rush on tour for the first time ever!

“We will still be holding our Paignton event later in the summer, but are thrilled to be announcing a brand new location for some colour craziness in 2016.”

Colour Rush Teignmouth participants are invited to walk, run, or even dance their way around the new 5k route, which starts and finishes at The Den on Teignmouth seafront, while being showered with two tonnes of powder paint.

All participants are also asked to raise as much sponsorship as possible for Rowcroft.

By doing so they’ll be helping to make every day the best day possible for thousands of people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon.

Daniel added: “A lot of people associate Rowcroft’s services with Torbay, as our main premises are based here. However, the majority of our care is actually provided in people’s homes across South Devon, including Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot.

“It’s great to be able to run an event closer to our supporters’ and patient’s homes in the Teignbridge area.”

Stephen Feasby, from Newton Abbot, who is currently an outpatient at Rowcroft Hospice, said: “I cannot express or put into words what Rowcroft means to me. I was introduced to the outpatient services at a time when my anxiety was going through the roof and it has become my saviour.

“I’m excited to hear that the hospice will be running an event in Teignmouth in May, especially something as bright and colourful as the Colour Rush.”

Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge District Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive member for Recreation and Leisure, added:

“Teignbridge District Council is delighted to be supporting Rowcroft Hospice’s Colour Rush.

“We are providing free parking in The Point car park for the day so those taking part – and those supporting the event – can really enjoy themselves and have the opportunity to explore Teignmouth after the event if they want to.

“With its long stretch of sand, our Seaside Award winning Teignmouth Town Beach is a great location for this incredibly worthwhile fundraiser. Our resorts and car parking teams will be on hand to ensure it is a Colour Rush to remember. We’d encourage people to sign up and enjoy this special event.”

Registration for the Colour Rush Teignmouth will open on Monday 29 February. For regular updates about the event, like the Colour Rush page on Facebook.
