Refurbished Rowcroft shop sees massive sales boost
23 November 2015
Sales in Rowcroft's Totnes high street shop have rocketed following the shop's refurbishment earlier this year.
Figures show that from September - October this year sales were up £9,000 on the same month period in 2014, with the shop recently making a record profit of £1,000.
The hospice's retail department are delighted with the uplift. Caroline Wannell, Head of Retail at Rowcroft, said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who have supported the refurbishment of our Totnes shop, including our customers and highly valued shop staff and volunteers.
"We are overjoyed to have seen such an impressive increase in sales, which will help to make every day the best possible day for thousands of people in South Devon who are living with life-limiting illnesses."
The shop, which re-opened following refurbishment at the beginning of summer, now stocks a much larger range of items, including some designer clothing, two '£1 Rails' and special occasion dresses starting from £10.
The shop also has a dedicated Kids Section and wise selection of bric-a-brac.
Shop Manager, Nicola Shellard, said: "Our shop is now a bit of everything, which is what Totnes is really! We still have our affordable items, but also some treasure which comes from our Distribution Centre in Newton Abbot.
"We've had items from Burberry, Barbour, Joseph and Chanel which have sold very quickly."
Nicola added: "Since the refurbishment we have had lots of customers visiting the new shop and it's given it a real community feel.
"We have Mums coming in to look at our new Kids Section, students coming in to look for vintage fashion items, and we've even had people visiting Totnes who need last minute outfits who we've dressed head to toe!"
The Totnes shop is one of 12 Rowcroft Hospice shops across South Devon, and was refurbished following ongoing maintenance problems.
