Jade jumps to raise funds for Rowcroft Hospice!

18 November 2014

Jade JonesJade Jones is planning to make a 15,000 foot skydive on Sunday 7 December in aid of Rowcroft Hospice, dressed as Father Christmas.

Jade, who lives in Plymouth, will take off from Skydive UK’s headquarters at Dunkeswell Airfield in Honiton with a number of skydivers dressed in Santa suits, before freefalling back to land at speeds of up to 120mph.

She is planning the festive freefall in memory of her grandmother, who was cared for at Rowcroft.

The Santa Skydive particularly appealed to Jade as December was an important month for her Gran, whose birthday and wedding anniversary also took place within the month.

Catherine Parr, Jade's grandmotherJade said: “I decided to take part in the skydive as it seemed like the best way to raise most money for Rowcroft, and I have the chance to take part in something amazing.

“The care Rowcroft provided for not only my Gran but for the entire family was second to none. Every person, volunteer or doctor we met along the way could not have been more helpful, kind and brilliant.”

Jade has already raised more than £500 for the hospice, an incredible amount that will help Rowcroft to provide care for more than 1800 people with life-limiting illnesses every year.

She added: “As soon as I mentioned I was fundraising for Rowcroft, everyone I knew was chomping at the bit to donate. Rowcroft has touched many lives and so many people have come forward to donate”

Hayley Norrish, Community Fundraising Officer at Rowcroft Hospice said: “We’d like to thank all our amazing skydivers for their support, and can’t wait to see a sleigh-load of Santas floating to the ground in December! The efforts of Jade and others make such a difference for us.”
