Hospice stalwart retires

01 September 2015

Hard working hospice shop manager, Jane Ledgerwood Barr who has raised in excess of £1.5million during her long career has waved goodbye to the Rowcroft Brixham store after 19 years.

Friends and colleagues joined her at the Brixham Fish Quay event in July to

celebrate her retirement. Jane said: “I would like to thank all of my lovely and hardworking volunteers as well as the community of Brixham. I hope that they will continue to support the Rowcroft shop.”

Jane had been the Union Lane shop manager since it opened its doors in 1996.

Amanda Grant, Retail Operations Manager said: "Jane has worked immensely hard year-in year-out, generating fabulous amounts of much needed income for Rowcroft. She will be sorely missed by all the staff, volunteers and visitors here at the shop and we wish her all the best for her retirement.”

It is a time of change for the Brixham hospice shop as it embarks on a relocation from its current premises on Union Lane to a larger unit on the High Street.

Amanda said: “We are taking the opportunity to relocate to a larger, more prominent location on the High Street in Brixham. The additional space will allow us to stock more items and diversify our offering.

“The local community have always been incredibly supportive and we are looking forward to welcoming them to our new premises soon.”

The new shop, situated in the old HSBC bank will open its doors to customers in October. An exact date is yet to be confirmed.
