Couple take on third Colour Rush for Rowcroft

04 September 2015

A husband and wife team are planning to take on their third Colour Rush for Rowcroft Hospice.

Charlotte and Stewart Molyneux will be taking on South Devon’s brightest 5k on Paignton Beach on Saturday 12 September with friends and family.

The pair first signed up for The Colour Rush in 2013 and have seen the event grow more colourful year-on-year.

Charlotte explained: “We first signed up because we’d heard of similar colour run events in London and always wanted to take part. When I found out Rowcroft was organising one in Torbay, I signed up straight away!”

The event invites people to walk, jog, dance, or even cartwheel their way around a 5k route while being covered in powder paint at five paint stations.

Afterwards, participants are encouraged to take part in a mass paint throw, which with over 1200 people and 1200 bags of paint can get colourful.

Stewart said: “My favourite memory is when we all gathered on the beach for the mass paint throw in 2014. We all waited for the count down, threw the paint in the air at the same time and created the most colourful cloud I've ever seen!”

The pair is keen to support local charity, Rowcroft. Stewart said: “You can really see the impact money raised at these events has when it is spent in the local area.”

Charlotte added: “It's such a wonderful charity that does so much for the families of Torbay; their fundraising events are always really different and bring the local community together.”

A limited number of spaces are still available for The Colour Rush 2015.

Events Co-ordinator Daniel Robson said: “If you’d like to get colourful in aid of Rowcroft, and help families in South Devon to make the most of the time they have together, you still can! This year promises to be the biggest, brightest Colour Rush yet and we’d love you to be a part of it.”
