Bovey Tracy teacher plans South Devon’s most colourful 50th birthday
21 May 2015
Bovey Tracey teacher Carol Walters is planning to paint the town multi-coloured with her 50th birthday celebrations.
Carol, who lives in Bovey Tracey and teaches in Chudleigh, has invited 49 friends to complete Rowcroft Hospice’s Colour Rush with her in celebration of her landmark birthday.
Carol was inspired to take on the challenge for her 50th birthday when she took part in last year’s Colour Rush.
She said: “I absolutely loved The Colour Rush last year and while running it thought it would be amazing to have a group of people doing it for my birthday.
“I thought it would be the perfect event because it’s not overly taxing and has a special twist, so far I’ve recruited around 37, so only need another twelve more, plus myself!”
The Colour Rush takes place in Paignton on Saturday 12th September, three days after Carol’s birthday.
The event invites people to walk, jog, dance or even cartwheel the 5k route along Paignton and Preston beaches while being showered in multi-coloured powder paint.
Carol added: “I’ve got people from all over the country coming to take part, including brothers and sisters from London and Brighton and others from Wales and Northampton.”
The group of 50 will also be wearing t-shirts numbered from one to fifty.
Carol explained: “I’m hoping to have t-shirts printed and for those who can to wear a t-shirt with a number that matches their age!
“So if any t-shirt printing companies out there would like to support me, I’d love to hear from you!”
Almost half the places for The Colour Rush have already been filled and Events Co-ordinator, Daniel Robson, is delighted with the response the event has received from the local community.
“Places are filling fast for this year’s Colour Rush so we would urge anyone who still needs to sign up to do so as soon as possible.”
Sign up before 31st May at www.thecolourrush.co.uk using code RED15 and secure your place for £20, instead of the usual £25 full ticket price.
