Become a Hospice Hero: How to help in 2020

Do something amazing in 2020 and take part in the challenge of a lifetime. We have a range of challenges that will push you to your personal best, test your fears and have your friends and family digging deep in their pockets to support your fundraising.

Rowcroft fundraiser Charles Mann explains why, in memory of his friend Matt, he takes part in our challenges — even when he doesn’t really want to! — and what led him to run the Torbay Half Marathon this year: “I raise money for Rowcroft because they took great care of Matt and his family. I signed up for the Torbay Half Marathon specifically because I didn’t want to do it. A significant part of the friendship between Matt and myself was winding each other up. Doing something that annoys me feels a very appropriate way to honour that friendship. I’m also very aware that all the discomfort I experience doing these things is a luxury. I could easily just not take part and spare myself from it, but that’s a choice Matt and others that are helped by Rowcroft don’t have.”

Community Fundraising Manager, Ali Upton, added: “Each year, hundreds of people challenge themselves physically and mentally to raise money for Rowcroft. This year people have ran, walked, climbed mountains, cycled, jumped out of planes, stood on planes and even swum with horses. So why not make 2020 the year you challenge yourself? Perhaps sign up to a half marathon, do a skydive, or take part in our new Dartmouth 2 Dawlish route, walking some of the most stunning coastline.”
