Lace up your running shoes and get ready to make a difference at one of the most exciting road running events in the South West of England. The Torbay Half Marathon & 10k is set to return on Sunday 19 September 2027 and we’re asking YOU to pound the pavement in support of the hospice!
Whether you take on the half marathon or the 10k, both routes showcase stunning views along the English Riviera coastline. With up to half of all runners expected to be taking part for charity – and Rowcroft offering a limited number of charity places – it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable run while supporting local hospice care.

More than a race
By joining Team Rowcroft, you’ll be supported every step of the way.
You’ll receive training support via a weekly running club, a Rowcroft race vest, access to a private WhatsApp group and plenty of encouragement along the way. On race day, enjoy the Rowcroft wave at the start and supporters cheering you along the route. It’s more than just a run – it’s being part of something truly special.

Josh’s story
When Josh from Torquay was just 14 years old, his mum Andrea was diagnosed with a Grade 4 glioblastoma and she sadly died less than a year later.
Josh took on the 2026 Torbay Half Marathon alongside his brothers, running in memory of his mum and raising vital funds for the hospice that cared for Andrea both at home and in the Inpatient Unit.
“Looking back, it was such a horrendous time for my family, but it was made that little bit easier by the incredible support from Rowcroft,” says Josh. “I am not quite sure words can ever describe the impact Rowcroft has had on my life – whether that was the doctors and nurses that would look after Mum day in day out, the chefs who would cook us extra food whilst we were there, the gardeners who made sure there was a space we could play cricket in the grounds, or the doctor that took the time to come back to hospice, outside of his working hours to explain to a confused 14-year-old boy what was going on.
“There are so many people who deserve a thank you. The support of Rowcroft wasn’t just for Mum, it was for my whole family.”
For Josh, taking part in the Torbay Half Marathon was a way of giving something back:
“I know that I am in a better place because of Rowcroft and the support they gave me,” he says. “Anything that I can do to help give back, I will gladly do.”
As he trained, he focused on his mum, his brothers, and the staff who supported his family. He hopes others will be inspired to run for Rowcroft too, saying even the smallest fundraising efforts can make a real difference.
How your fundraising can make a difference
- £25 could provide essential comfort items for patients in the Inpatient Unit, such as toiletries, blankets, or books, enhancing their experience during their stay.
- £100 could pay for three hours of support from one of Rowcroft’s community nurses, as they deliver pain relief and other specialist care to patients at home across South Devon.
- £232 could fund one hour of care for all the patients in our Inpatient Unit, bringing comfort and support to people in their final days.
