FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Take on the challenge of a 15,000 feet Skydive

When does the trip take place?

You can choose from two dates in 2016:

  • 23 April
  • 6 June
  • 20 June
  • 17 September

What do I have to do to take part?

Complete the online booking form and pay the £50 Registration Fee. This fee goes directly to our partner organiser, Skydive UK.

The registration fee is refundable if you succeed in raising the minimum £395 sponsorship money.

Once your payment and forms are received, you will be sent a fundraising pack including sponsorship forms and information about online giving, to help you get your sponsorship rolling in.

On the day of the jump you will be required to pay the £200 balance to Skydive UK (by cash or card, taken from your sponsorship money. Cheques are not accepted). You will also need to bring a personal cheque payable to Rowcroft Hospice for the remainder of the funds raised; this must be a minimum of £145. Note you may post-date your cheque to Rowcroft for up to one month in case you haven’t received your full amount of expected sponsorship by the day of your jump, giving you plenty of time to collect it. If you’ve used JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving, then Rowcroft will provide Skydive UK Ltd with proof of your online fundraising total.

How does Rowcroft benefit?

£145 of the £395 minimum sponsorship you are asked to raise will be treated as a donation to Rowcroft Hospice. Any additional money you raise (over £395) will also go directly to the hospice. The funds you raise will help Rowcroft to continue caring for over 2,200 people in South Devon who are living with progressive, life-limiting illnesses. The annual cost of delivering hospice services is £8.9 million and over 70% of that funding comes from the local community.

Are there any restrictions on who can take part and how fit they should be?

The minimum age to jump is 16, there is no maximum limit. If you are aged 16-18, you must seek consent from a parent/guardian using BPA form 106. If you are 40+you must get the BPA form 115(i) signed and stamped by a GP. You are expected to be of reasonable fitness.

What if I can’t raise the minimum sponsorship?

We will provide you with a fundraising pack full of ideas on how to reach your target. You will also have the support of our Community Fundraising team to answer any queries along the way. However, if you do not manage to raise £395 prior to your Skydive date you will be able to make up the shortfall yourself, or transfer to a later challenge, giving yourself longer to fundraise.

Where can I get more information?

Our Fundraising team is here to help. We can provide you with sponsorship forms, t-shirts and other branded goods to promote the fact you are raising funds in aid of our charity. Do call us on 01803 210835 or email Hayley at hayley.norrish@rowcroft-hospice.org.uk.

Our partner, Skydive UK Limited, is open to take calls and queries on the logistics of the day itself and you can reach them on 01404 890222 or Skydive UK’s charity events administrator charities@skydive99.com.
