Sleep Walk 2017 - Fundraising
Event Type: Runs, Walks & Cycles
When: 8th - 9th July 2017
Where: Torbay Leisure Centre
Time: 7.30pm - late
Since it began the ladies walking The Rowcroft Sleep Walk have managed to raise more than £1,000,000 in sponsorship, making every day the best day possible for thousands of local families facing the hardest days imaginable. Your quest, before you set sail on Saturday 8th July, is to see if you can batten down the hatches and raise more than £200,000 in sponsorship to help the hospice on its way! Think ye can do it?
Here are some hints from The Pirate’s Fundraising Code to help ye on your quest.
1. Get ye-self online
Setting up an online donation page using a website such as Just Giving is one of the easiest ways to ask ye ship mates for sponsorship. Once your page be set up, you’ll have a link you can email to friends and family, and to share on your social media channels. It’ll also ask you to set a target, which will help you focus your efforts and encourage people to send you their loot.
2. Use ye fundraising pack
Download your sponsor form from the Further Information bar on the left, print and distribute at work, home or anywhere else you choose. The more people who know you’ll be walking through the night for Rowcroft the more loot you’ll be likely to raise. You can also download a poster from the Further Information bar on the left and personalise it with your pirate name and how far you'll be walking.
3. Remember to Gift Aid
Ask all ye sponsors to tick the Gift Aid Box and fill in their full details on your sponsor form. It means that for every penny they donate, Rowcroft will be receiving an extra 25% from HM Revenue and Customs at no additional cost to you, them or any other scallywags. Each sponsor must complete their own details or we cannot claim Gift Aid.
4. Be knowing your stuff
Did you know Rowcroft cares for more than 2000 patients every year? That three quarters of these patients are cared for in their own homes? Or that it costs £780 to provide 24 hour care to a patient on our Inpatient Unit? Arming yourself with information about Rowcroft, and sharing experiences ye might be having at the hospice will help people understand how their sponsorship be making a difference.
5. Get creative
Put the fun into your fundraising by planning some pirate themed activities – like a ‘talk like a pirate day’ or fancy dress day at work. Alternatively, ask family and friends to set up a regular monthly donation, or set up your own. Just £10 each month could pay for a hospice nurse to make a visit to support a family at home. Set up yours today at www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk/monthly-donation.
On behalf of all at the hospice, we thank you for supporting the hospice and signing up for The Rowcroft Sleep Walk 2017, you me hearties, are worth all the treasure in the world!

"More than 70% of our funding comes from the local community so we rely heavily on all our Sleep Walkers raising as much in sponsorship as they can for the hospice."
