Welcome to Rowcroft Hospice's new identity

22 April 2012

Rowcroft Hospice has proudly served the people of South Devon for the past 30 years. During this time the hospice has got on with the responsibility of delivering high quality specialist palliative and end of life care in a quiet, unassuming way. During this time the hospice has developed extensive services at the main site in Torquay and more latterly within the wider community of South Devon.

As we approach our 30th anniversary, we have come to accept that the extent of these services is not widely understood, even amongst Health and Social Care professionals. Our name is not as widely recognised as we believed it to be.

We pride ourselves on being pro-active and innovative in our care, and this should extend to how we secure our future.

Our aim is to transform and modernise the way we communicate the comprehensive range of services offered by South Devon’s local hospice. These services reach out to support people with progressive, life-limiting illnesses from Dartmouth to Dawlish and as far as Buckfastleigh, Widecombe-in-the Moor and Bovey Tracey.

The new identity is an essential investment for the future of Rowcroft Hospice. We have some truly wonderful supporters but we feel there are too many people in our community who are unaware of the services we provide, and from which they might benefit. It is a logical progression to assume that a better identity will also create wider support.

Our contemporary new logo includes a new strapline ‘taking care further’. This is intended to reflect our ever-widening range of services and that we will strive to pro-actively reach out to support communities across South Devon and create a beacon of best practice.

A further impetus in the introduction of the new identity is the recently enacted Health and Social Care Bill (NHS Reforms). This Act will further enable organisations other than the NHS to provide health and social care services. Patients, alongside their GPs, will be able to select the appropriate/acceptable ‘Qualified Providers’ for their treatment/care.  More than ever, Rowcroft Hospice needs to be a highly visible and recognisable provider of high quality palliative care for the people of South Devon.

We hope that you like our new identity; we hope you consider it strong, clean and contemporary; we hope that you will join us in being ‘prouder and a little louder’ about our local hospice.
