Solicitors join forces for Make a Will Week
26 April 2013
Following its huge success last year, raising over £23,000, Rowcroft Hospice is launching its 2013 Make a Will Week campaign in partnership with 26 solicitors across South Devon.
Make a Will Week runs from 20-26th May, during which local solicitors will give their time to update or write Wills, in return for a donation to the hospice. Suggested minimum donations are £100 for a single Will and £150 for a pair of mirror Wills. For more complicated Wills or those that require specialist advice a fee is agreed in advance.
Only half of Britain’s in the UK have made a Will and half of those have never updated it. After major life changes such as getting married, having children or moving house, it is important to ensure you have an up-to-date Will.
Rachael MacLoughlin, Make a Will Week organiser said: “We all know we should have a Will but it’s one of those jobs we struggle to get around to doing. Without one, or one that is not up-to-date, you cannot guarantee your wishes will be followed. And, even if you already have a Will, it is a good idea to review it to make sure the details and clauses still reflect your wishes. This will not only ensure that your family’s future is secure, but by making or updating your Will during Rowcroft Hospice’s Make a Will Week, it will help secure the future of our vital work.
Peter Cox from Boyce Hatton Solicitors also added: “It’s always a pleasure to help such a worthwhile cause and it is also a useful opportunity to remind clients that Rowcroft is heavily dependent upon charitable giving to do the outstanding work that it does.”
If you would like to make a Will, simply contact a solicitor (of your choice) from the participating firms and make an appointment between 20 – 26th May, mentioning ‘Rowcroft Hospice Make a Will Week’, when you call.
