Music therapy

Music is used at Rowcroft to enhance the hospice environment, adding tranquil sounds to a busy environment and creating an atmosphere that benefits everyone.

No musical skills or experience are required to gain powerful results; from the wife of a patient whose words have been set to music, enabling her to sing a poignant love song to her husband, to a modern upbeat song written and performed by a young teenager facing up to the problems of life and her father's illness.

On a more basic level music brings people together, and a group making music or singing nostalgic, upbeat songs creates a feeling of well-being that seems to take away people’s stresses and frustrations for a brief while.
