We believe that everyone facing a life-limiting illness should have access to the highest quality care, which is tailored to their needs and aimed at giving them the best possible quality of life.
Hospice Shops

Rowcroft's shops raise a fantastic amount of money for the hospice - and donating your unwanted goods or making a purchase in the shops is a great way of supporting the hospice, as well as doing your bit for the environment.

There are eleven Rowcroft charity shops in South Devon, selling a wide range of donated goods including clothes and bric-a-brac. The Rowcroft shop in Reddenhill Road, Babbacombe, specialises in good quality furniture, books, bric-a-brac, records and cds. Rowcroft shops are open Monday - Saturday, 9.00am - 4.30pm.

Each shop has a manager, a deputy and a committed team of volunteers who sort, hang, price and sell an enormous amount of donated goods each year.

We're always on the look out for helping hands....our hospice shops would cease to exist without the dedicated and passionate team of volunteers we have. We're in particular need of help at Dawlish, Teignmouth and Totnes shops.

To donate goods or to find out more about becoming a shop volunteer please phone Helen on (01803) 210832 or contact your nearest shop.

Gift Aid on Donated Goods

Rowcroft Hospice charity shops now have the Gift Aid initiative; which means we can reclaim tax on goods sold. We urge you (if you are a UK tax payer) to give your unwanted items to one of our hospice shops and ‘Gift Aid’ your donation. This means that for every pound Rowcroft makes from the sale of your items, we receive an extra 28 pence from the taxman and Government.

Thousands of pounds worth of extra charity cash can be raised thanks to the Government tax-back scheme. Donated goods play a crucial part in helping the hospice to raise the £4.3 million a year needed to continue caring for those in South Devon suffering with terminal illnesses.

To sign up all you have to do is take your items to your local Rowcroft Hospice shop and complete a simple Gift Aid declaration form which confirms that you are a UK tax payer. You will be issued with your own ‘Gift Aid donor card’ with a unique donor number which you should bring with you each time you donate items to us. A sticker with your unique donor number will be applied to each item you donate. Once your items have been sold, we will then write to you to let you know how much money you have helped to raise. With your permission, we will then treat the money raised as a donation and reclaim the tax back from HM Revenue and Customs.

As well as boosting our funds, we also believe the initiative will help us to develop longer-term relationships with you our supporter.

Other charity shops have reported that the ‘donor card’ has increased loyalty from supporters and that the scheme has also helped to increase both the quantity and quality of goods received.
Please help us to make this scheme a success!

Even with the credit crunch, there is a way to continue supporting your local hospice without it costing you a penny. For more information, visit your local Rowcroft Hospice shop or download a form from the download page.
