The transport department at Rowcroft Hospice has a fleet of 10 vehicles. Including cars, a minibus and collection vans for donations to our shops. All vehicles are maintained at five weekly intervals, enabling us to provide safe and reliable vehicles for the transportation of patients or their relatives.

We provide transport, when needed, to bring patients or their relatives to our Outpatient Centre for an appointment with:

  • Physiotherapy
  • The Chronic Oedema service
  • Complementary therapies
  • Bereavement counselling service
  • Creative Therapies

Before we agree to transport a patient we conduct risk assessments on all new referrals to determine their suitability for hospice transport.

If any patients or relatives are deemed unsafe to travel on their own, then we will deploy a trained escort to assist the driver.

A night driver is available to transport the Hospice at Home sister.

In addition to this we also provide transport for the Inpatient Unit. This transport will be used to collect medical notes, transport blood or medical equipment, medication etc. or to take patients to external sites for appointments

In cases where close relatives have transport difficulties the Rowcroft transport service will try their best to help.

All our drivers/escorts are trained to the same level of competence whether they are carrying patients or relatives.
